Demonstration & demonstrators

The demonstrators in LOCOMACHS will be the means for the project to demonstrate and validate DFMA – Design For Manufacturing & Assembly and to demonstrate manufacturing and assembly processes earlier developed and tested through trials in the project.

LOCOMACHS differs from previous demonstrator programmes by placing its focus on manufacturing and assembly methods, processes, and tools.

Each of the LOCOMACHS demonstrators strives to provide a genuine platform to act as an enabler for industrialisation within each of the partner industrial organisations. The demonstrated processes will be validated against specific agreed industrial requirements related to parameters such as quality, recurring cost reduction, non-recurring cost reduction, ultimately defining the return on investment within a high volume manufacturing environment.
Two different designs are used for the demonstrator objects: wingbox design from a previous Bombardier wingbox demonstrator and a former preliminary fuselage design from A350.
