Physical demonstrations

Lean Assembly Wingbox is an assembled structure with low level of part integration. It consists of a section of a front and rear spar, four ribs, upper and lower cover and connecting parts to assemble all parts together. It will be a mix of metal and composite parts. The demonstration is focusing on the assembly processes like positioning, clamping, shimming, drilling, hole inspection, fastening, sealing, but will also gain from a redesign and accurate manufacturing of the individual parts.

More integrated Wingbox is based on the same part design as LAWiB but with a much higher level of integration. The parts front and rear spar, rib and lower cover are integrated into one single part. The demonstrator is limited to two ribs, section of front and rear spar, upper and lower cover. Upper cover will be assembled to the other part.
